360 DEGREE

PERSPECTIVE

Full perspective on learning space development

When designing learning environments, Højer Møbler is working on the basis of what we call a 360-degree perspective. Besides diving into the functional needs of the furniture, the students’ freedom of movement and how the furniture can support the pedagogics and didactics of the school, it means that LIGHT, SOUND, AIR and COLOR are also considered in our furnishing solutions.

LIGHT

Our vision conveys about 80% of all our sensory impressions, and as light is a crucial prerequisite for seeing, the quality of light plays a vital role in the human experience of the world. The light affects everything from learning processes and concentration to well-being, perception and physical development. Light can be used to attract attention to one or more activities, as an effective mood-creator when there is a need for concentration or to dampen or increase the activity level in the room. In other words, in addition to providing good working light, the lighting can be used in conjunction with the furniture to code the room for different functions.

SOUND

A varied learning landscape, with furniture in different heights and materials, can often make a significant difference to the sound stage. The composition of solid and closed furniture, soft materials and organic shapes stops the sound and creates a better sound level. In addition, different areas for different kinds of learning are created and at the same time, we create ROOM FOR ALL.

A varied learning landscape invites students to change seating positions while promoting learning, concentration, performance and work in peace. This means that students who have a higher level of activity do not bother the students who need a more quiet environment.

Noise is self-reinforcing, blocks dialogue between people and is a stress factor for both pupils/students and teachers. Stress is a major factor in regards to well-being and concentration, so there is much to be gained by optimizing the acoustics of the room. Common acoustic ceilings are rarely enough to dampen the noise level, in rooms with hard walls and floors and high ceilings. Therefore, there is often a need to think of acoustic-damping solutions into the furniture decor.

AIR

A good indoor climate is a prerequisite for human well-being, concentration and learning. In our interior design solutions, we always seek to create more spacious designs and more room for movement. A good indoor climate is, of course, based on optimal ventilation and temperature conditions, but also freedom of movement.

COLOR

Colors play an incredibly important role in our lives. They have the ability to affect our mood and feelings and can simoultaneously set the mood of a room and even cause physiological reactions. The colors and their use in relation to each other affect our emotions and sense of community according to universal principles that are beyond subjective tastes, pleasures and fashion trends. A room in harmonious color balance means that the colors are matched to each other, in an appropriate amount, where the desired qualities, such as presence, peace of mind, calm or creativity is given a small edge. At Højer Møbler we are very aware of the effects of the color scheme and we work with different coloring strategies and basic principles, that support the intended use of the room.
