We create

The best space to learn

Room for all

We create spaces students can learn and thrive in. We do this knowing that everybody thinks, acts or learns in different ways. Our primary task is to help create learning spaces for all types of students, actively working towards the goal of making all students reach their full potential.

In order to achieve this goal, we sometimes need to make space within the space, so we do not limit the pedagogical and didactic approach of the teacher. Space within the space creates an “opportunity room”, where different types of students have room for varying learning activities and space for movement.

It is important, when designing learning spaces, that we look at the type of student that is going to use the space along with the educational vision and didactic methods practiced at the school. When working with space in this way, the result is an inviting, activating and stimulating space for students and staff.

PHYSICAL WELL-BEING SHARPENS CONCENTRATION

Being active helps improve the students’ concentration and increase their learning ability. That is why the furniture and the room must motivate students to be active, but at the same time accommodate different personality types and learning preferences. We are all different and we learn differently. That is why our mission to create ROOM FOR ALL and give the students and teachers the possibility to decide where and how they work in the best way possible.

As a tool to define the degree of freedom of movement in learning environments, Højer Møbler has developed “the four degrees of freedom”. With this tool we are able to, in cooperation with the schools, create a common understanding of what requirements a room should meet.

WHY WORK WITH THE ACTIVATING LEARNING SPACE?

WHY WORK WITH THE ACTIVATING LEARNING SPACE?

  • Creating space in space affords the teacher the ability for a quick change of scenery and high variation in the teaching activities. It means that the teacher is offered the possibility to use the room for many scenarios, such as talking to the entire class at once, silent contemplation and study time, activities, collaboration in groups and creativity – all in the same room.
  • It allows the teacher to both challenge and support students with special needs.
  • It offers students an increased opportunity to be part of the social activities and still have the ability to pull out when needed.
  • A varied learning landscape invites students to change seating positions while promoting learning, concentration, performance and work in peace. This means that students who have a higher level of activity do not bother the students who need a more quiet environment.
